  • Headphones:
  • To block out any unwanted noise and for the flight entertainment systems: movies, music, etc headphones are essential to have with you! They are also a great signal to others that you are not wanting to talk at the moment!GOPR0003 1024x1021 - Long Flight Essentials: What to pack in your carry-on to survive a long flight
  • Big Scarf
  • Wearing a big scarf on a long flight is a must! Planes are often cold and drafty so it’s great to have a scarf that can be doubled as a blanket – no one wants to be cold on a really long flight. Scarfs can also be doubled up as a pillow!
  • Gum/Mints:
  • Having some gum with you can come in handy if you are trying to prevent your ears from popping, to keep your mouth from drying out and to keep your breath fresh!
  • Notebook+Pen:
  • You can’t go wrong having a notebook to write in, either to write make a list of things you want to do once you’re off your long flight, to doodle in or maybe play some hangman/tic-tac-toe with your seatmate!
  • Earplugs:
  • Ear plugs are great from preventing your ears from popping, to block out noise( aka babies crying) or to signal to other people that you need some quiet time!IMG 20180118 123029 - Long Flight Essentials: What to pack in your carry-on to survive a long flight
  • USB charging cords:
  • Be sure to have your USB charging cords for your devices in your carry on so you can easily access them if your devices need charging. There’s nothing worse than a dead phone after a long flight! Note: not all planes have USB charging ports but some of the bigger planes will have these ports by the tv or on the arm rest!
  • Tiny Flashlight:
  • Finding items in your bag on the plane at night is hard when it’s dark and you don’t want to disturb your seatmate. So stash a small flashlight somewhere you can use it easily!
  • Sunglasses:
  • You will probably need some sunnies for your destination anyways so you might as well use them during your long flight to block out the afternoon sun incase you want to nap!
  • Snacks:
  • Snacks are especially important for a long flight and even more so if you have any dietary restrictions! Airplanes have a tendency to mess up when it comes to special dietary requirements so pack your own snacks and mini meals so you don’t starve on your long flight!airplane food
  • Empty Water Bottle:
  • Bring an empty water bottle with you on a long flight so you can either fill it up once you are past security or you can ask the flight attendant to fill it up on your flight. Bringing a water bottle will save you money and it’s better for the environment than purchasing a plastic one.
  • Kleenex:
  • Whether you need to blow nose or wipe your face – having kleenex is a good idea because you never know!
  • Face Wipes:
  • The air is very gross on the plane and after hours of being on a long flight you will most likely feel like you need to wash your face to freshen up. Face wipes are also great to freshen up stinky feet or underarms ( just do that discreetly in the washroom)
  • Gravol or Ginger Chews:
  • Having some type of anti nausea pill is a great idea for a long flight especially if you get motion sickness.
  • Imodium:
  • For any unexpected emergency like a travel bug or food poisoning Imodium is a lifesaver for any long flight upsets.
  • Lip Chap/Lip Mask:
  • During a long flight you’re just about guaranteed to have your lips dry out, so having lip chap with you is super handy.  If you’re looking for something lower maintenance then putting on lip chap constantly, maybe consider using Laneige Sleeping Lip Mask it’s amazing!! This lip mask soothes instantly and can be applied before bed and used as a mask or can be used throughout the flight!Screen Shot 2018 01 17 at 12.50.36 PM - Long Flight Essentials: What to pack in your carry-on to survive a long flight
  • Hand Cream:
  • Airplane air will suck out the moisture in your skin so maybe consider a small moisturizer to take with you!
  • Headband/Bandana:
  • If you have longer hair or hair that tends to fall in your face it can be extremely annoying when you are on a long flight, so bring something you can tie or push your hair back with!
  • Toothbrush/Toothpaste:
  • Having a toothbrush and a toothpaste is so important for a long flight, just because you’re not at home it doesn’t mean you should skip brushing your teeth. You can easily find a small travel sized toothbrush to take with you if you don’t want to take your normal one.
  • Zipper Padlock:
  • Whether or not it seems overly cautious, putting a small lock on the zippers of the bag you put in the overhead bin is a good idea! If someone on the plane knows everyone else is sleeping and they are looking to steal something your bag won’t be much of a target because you’ve protected it with locks!
  • Entertainment:
  • Long flights can get very boring so load up and charge all your devices with movies, shows, audiobooks, podcasts, music and games to keep you entertained during your long flight! You may even want to bring a handheld game system like a Nintendo D.S to play games on.

  • Magazine or a book:
  • Another way to stay entertained is by reading so bring something you want to or maybe even have to read since you have the time anyways!
  • Extra Plastic Bag:
  • If you decide to change your clothes during the flight it’s nice to have an extra bag to put your dirty clothes in.
  • Hand Sanitizer/ Antibacterial Spray:
  • It’s a good idea to wipe down your table tray and other plastic parts on your seat when you get on your long flight. Table trays aren’t usually cleaned in between flights so you never know who may have sneezed on it!
